Q. How do I get the full text of articles found in PubMed?
For full text linking options from PubMed, please get to PubMed through a Library link, such as from the Databases A – Z option.
If you got to PubMed through a route other than FLITE, such as through a Google search, once you get into PubMed, select Log in and choose your preferred login method.
Select Create a new NCBI account (or login to an existing NCBI account if you have one).
Once in your NCBI account, select NCBI Site Preferences from the top right-hand menu, and then under PubMed Preferences, select Outside Tool. Select F and then check the box next to Ferris State University.
Once officially logged into PubMed with FSU credentials, click on an article’s title to see the full text linking options. Ferris FullText should now display, and you may also see a publisher’s link in addition to another linking option. If you see Free or Open Access, feel free to use those links. Otherwise, select Ferris FullText to determine full text options. Learn more about full text linking from this guide: https://ferris.libguides.com/full-text-linking
You may wish to download a browser extension, LibKey Nomad, that helps you to link out to full text from various databases and websites, including PubMed, Wikipedia, ResearchGate and more. Learn about LibKey Nomad from this guide: https://ferris.libguides.com/libkey-nomad
